What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is a very important time in the Islamic calendar, and Muslims all over the world will be preparing to take part. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims won’t eat or drink between dawn and sunset. This is called fasting.

Fasting is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith, and during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast every day from sunrise to sunset.

The pre-dawn meal is known as Suhoor, and the fast-breaking meal eaten after sunset is called Iftar.
